Traci Trottier spills her mind on how women cope with a career, family and today’s world.
I’m not overly Tehnololo.. Techno… Technologically inclined (I can’t even say the word). I’ve always liked to think that I’m organized, I think organization is the key, especially when you’re balancing work, a career, you’ve got young children, or just a family in general. I have a pen and paper with me all the time, including by my bedside. So that sometimes when I wake up and I start to panic that I’m going to forget to do something, I jot it down, and then I can rest in peace because I know that it’ll be there to remind me in the morning. I guess Blackberry’s can do that too? Haha, but pen and paper all the way… my husband makes fun of all the lists that I have around the house.
I don’t think all the money in the world would allow me to buy time, right? Haha! Because to me, that is what it always comes down to… is time. I know we’re moving forward into the Twenty-First century, so… I don’t know so, I don’t know, maybe enough money could find somebody that would just buy us time! I think that’s what it all comes down to. We have all these interesting gadgets. All the money in the world, you can hire a nanny, you can do that. But not every woman wants to do that, you want to have your own hands on… have the benefits of having a career… but also have the time being at home without being so rushed. Everything comes down to time… It’s just time.
I think a lot of women are like me, so I think we can speak on behalf of all of us… I think we just like to be on top of things. I know I’m like that… I have to always be in control of my situations in life whether it’s at work or at home. With tiny little things like getting lunches ready for the next day or laying out their clothes for the next day… or putting together a promotions package here with my co-workers at work. To me, I think women like to be in control of the situation and don’t like to say “I’ll look into that next week”… it gets to be overwhelming if you keep putting it off and putting it off. We like to do it NOW… maybe even yesterday… Hah!
