Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off 2012 returns July 12th – 15th to Lamoureux Park and Festival Officials are proud to report that, as in previous years, this year’s event will continue to support and feature local and regional musical talent. For those entertainers interested in performing at the 16th annual edition of Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off, please note that the Entertainment Committee is now accepting applications for opening musical acts.

Local, regional, original, cover and tribute acts – solo, due or group – in any musical genre are welcome to apply. Please be sure to include day and evening contact info, a brief bio including live performance experience, sample(s) of a live audio and/or video performance, a list of upcoming local and/or regional performance dates including location of venue, and reference list. The deadline to apply is Friday March 30th, 2012.

Due to scheduling constraints stipulated in Headline Artist contractual agreements, the festival will only able to accommodate a select number of performers before each Headline Act. The number of opening acts that will be chosen to perform at this year’s festival will not be known until all Headline Artists are secured and contractual details are finalized with Management. Please note that all opening acts selected by Festival Officials are subject to final approval by Headline Artist Management. In the event that an opening act is declined by Headline Artist Management another act will be selected and submitted for approval until a mutual agreement is reached between both parties.

KINSMEN CORNWALL LIFT-OFF ANNOUNCES SPECIALTY BALLOON FOR 2012 FESTIVAL

January 31, 2012

Every summer, the skies of Cornwall are filled with the spectacle of majestic hot air balloons rising out of the Computer Sense Launch Field, but this year has a very special guest, a gigantic Tyrannosaurus Rex! The Canadian-owned balloon is back from a three year European tour and has
agreed to touch down in the Seaway City!

“As the Director of Hot Air Balloons I am thrilled to announce that T-Rex will be making an appearance at Kinsmen Cornwall
Lift-Off this July. The children, young and old cannot help but stand with awe to watch this massive 37 metre high dinosaur fill with air to take to the sky. He is actually life-like, as during the inflation, the pilot lets T-Rex bob his head over the neighbouring regular shaped balloon to pretend that he is
taking a bite out of it!” , reports Mary Marleau, Lift-Off Co-Chair for Events and Balloons.
Specialty shaped balloon have become a very big part of Kinsmen Cornwall Lift-Off with past visitors including Old MacDonald’s Farmhouse, Mr. Peanut, Buddy Beaver, a Lady Bug, Woodrow the Tree, and a Clown.

Mary is hard at work securing additional balloons for this year’s festival. Keep up with the latest news from Lift-off on our Facebook Page and join the conversation on Twitter at @CornwallLiftOff.
